COVID-19 PATIENT CARE

While COVID-19 is still reported as being present in communities, ALL patients must be triaged for the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 by asking the following questions:

 

CLINICAL CRITERIA:

• Do have any of the following symptoms?

  • sore throat

  • cough

  • shortness of breath

  • high temperature (>38C)

  • loss of taste (ageusia) or smell (anosmia)

 

If you answer YES to any of the above- please call the practice to re-schedule your appointment.

EPIDEMIOLOGIC CRITERIA:

• Do you have a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19, or are you awaiting test results?

• Have you or anyone coming in contact with you, had contact with someone with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 or someone awaiting test results?

If you answer YES to any of the above - please call the practice to re-schedule your appointment.

 

• Have you travelled interstate or internationally in the last 14 days?

  • If you have answered YES to interstate travel: Please call the practice to detail where you have been in the last 14 days to determine whether you have been to any recent hotspots as defined by the QLD Health Officer or if you will be required to take any extra precautions when coming to your appointment.

• Are you a healthcare worker (HCW), aged care or residential care worker with direct patient contact?

  • If you have answered YES: We are sure you are aware that due to your profession you are at an increased risk of COVID-19. Given the low risk of community transmission and the low number of cases in Qld it is not necessary to delay you treatment at Perio Care. We do have a strict COVID-safe plan and we take our infection control protocols very seriously. If you have any concerns about your appointment please call one of our friendly receptionist’s to discuss.

• Are you aged 70 or over?

  • If you have answered YES: We are sure you are aware that due to your age you are at an increased risk of COVID-19. Given the low risk of community transmission and the low number of cases in QLD it is not necessary to delay you treatment at Perio Care.
