We’re here because we know that cancer is too big a disease to ignore. It affects everyone, maybe you, me, our parents, kids, siblings or friends. Sadly, maybe all of the above. But by riding in this event we are doing something about it. We’re rolling closer and closer to the end of cancer. It’s an awesome triumph in … Continue Reading

The Rio Tinto Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the Queensland Institute of Medical Research, is a cycling journey through Queensland’s countryside that I’m embarking on to help fight cancer.

It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my legs and your generosity, a real impact is possible.

Contribute to this event with a donation. Funds raised will support  research into blood cancer  at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research, a worldwide leader in cancer research and discovery and one of the largest research institutes in the southern hemisphere.

Talk about a challenge!

Posted in Out and About on .

On the weekend of 15-17 June 2012, the Perio Care Pedestrians will be walking 100km to raise money and awareness for Oxfam Australia. The event is Oxfam Trailwalker Brisbane 2012. It begins at Mount Glorious and travels through D’Aguilar National Park to Mount Coot-tha.

Teams of four enter this event and have 48 hours to walk or run the 100km trail, although our team is hoping to finish in 24 hours. It’s very likely that we’ll walk through the night (with little or no sleep) until the end. The event raises vital funds for Oxfam Australia.  Oxfam is an independent, secular, non-government organisation working in more than 28 countries including Indigenous Australia.

We hope to raise well over $1000.00 to … Continue Reading

We did it! It was long and arduous, very muddy, very steep, but we survived!

HELPING AUSSIE TEENS

The challenges that today’s teenagers face are often unique and arise from a range of different circumstances – whether it be at school, home, socially or with the police.

We don’t believe that there is a quick fix, but we do know that through a combination of great mentors, physical activity, new friends, self belief and an ongoing support network, young people can gain the confidence and skills to overcome obstacles life throws at them.

This is provided by the Kokoda Challenge Youth Program.
